Definition A labyrinthitis which involves viral infection of the inner ear through the upper airway or the blood stream. The symptoms may include hearing loss and ringing in the ears. If the virus reaches the vestibular system, dizziness, severe vertigo with nausea and vomiting, and imbalance can occur.
